Colorado State House District 22
Camille Ryckman is a native to the Jeffco district and has been active in the community for years. As a teacher, volunteer, and mother of two in her community she has the experience and knowledge necessary to move us forward.
Camille graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a double major in political science and history. Afterwards she was selected into the minority leaders fellowships program in Washington, DC. Camille worked for two years as assistant director of advocacy and outreach in the Governor’s office where she experienced firsthand the workings of our state government and the importance of having strong and effective leaders in the legislature.
A supporter of strong and quality education, Camille has devoted herself as a life long teacher. She started at Baker Middle and Lookout Mountain School leading activities and discussions with students of all ages. Camille gained invaluable field experience as a student teacher and softball coach at Denver West High School. Later, as a full-time teacher at Warren Technical Opportunity School, Camille helped at risk students in need of academic credits for graduation as part of her dedication to stand up for the most vulnerable citizens and to serve the under-served. That is one of the many reasons why Camille has remained an active member of her local Parent, Teacher Association (PTA).
As a mother of two young daughters, Camille understands the importance of affordable healthcare, economic development and prosperity, and community safety. Camille believes in lifelong learning and educational opportunity.
On top of this, Camille still finds time to volunteer for the causes she believes in. She was a board member for Chic Chicana and was an advisory committee person for the National Council of La Raza 1996 Conference. She is very active and continues to donate her time to her local church.
